Farina’s last great role. An acting showpiece, he’s fantastic. The film, not so much. Standard moody regretful drama; you’ve seen it before.

 

Paul Rudd charming as always. Cast solid if not over-exerted. Uninspired but competent post-Apatow-world comedy. Nothing to write home about

 

Finally a baseball movie for adults. More than a baseball movie, of course. Fascinating story of how we perceive & assess value. Read book.

 

Gattaca’s Niccol creates great concept that unfortunately sags under own weight. Better than expected but uneven & flawed. Still worth view.

Reitman is going to have to decide what kind of director he wants to be, and he’s in danger of death by Diablo Cody. Her writing is so smug.
